Josh described the album to NME as, Just ten tunes, kind of sprightly BPMs. While both of these statements are true, there are certainly common themes across the tracks. Much of the record was written during and refers to a 2-month period where Josh was living in a hotel trying to deal with some particularly challenging mental health and marital issues.

I only knew one track by Father John Misty before I listened to this album. I have I Love You, Honeybear on my shelves, I am interested in seeing how it compares to this album.
