About She Talks to Angels. The eighth track on The Black Crowes‘ 1990 album Shake Your Money Maker, and one of the singles from the album. Written by vocalist Chris Robinson, She Talks to Angels is an acoustic ballad about a goth, heroin addicted girl who lived in Atlanta that he sorta knew, but not really. This is regarded by many as The Black Crowes' best and well-known song. It hit number one on the US Album Rock Tracks chart and number 70 on the UK Singles Chart in 1991. She Talks to Angels’ is a funny song in that so many people resonate with it. The dark details like drugs and things like that would be a part of growing up and being in this world, but when I wrote that song I had no idea – I hadn’t done any of those things. I hadn’t lived that – everything was in my imagination.

Either way, she talks to angels because 1) she's alone, and only god and the angels really know and understand her 2)she feels like those angels are the only ones that might be able to save her or 3) she's dying and the angels are calling her home. I've thought about this a lot, actually, I love this song and it really hits close to home.
