Album Thunder and Consolation. inherit And though this is all done for our own benefit I swear we never asked for any of this. This golden age of communication Means everyone talks at the same time And liberty just means the freedom to exploit Any weakness that you can find Turn off the TV just for a while Let us whisper to each other instead And we'll hope that the Corporate ears do not listen Lest we find ourselves committing some kind of treason And filed. in the tapes without rhyme, without reason While they tell us that it's all for our own protection I swear we never asked for any of this.

Artist: New Model Army. Album: Thunder and Consolation (1989). 225. She stares at the screen, at the little words of green. Tries to do remember what to do next. There's a trace of frustration that crosses her face. And I would help her if I only know how. But these things are a mystery to me too. And it seems that the Corporate eyes they are watching. She fears for her job and the moments are passing. I stare at her nametag and I think to myself. Both you and I, we never asked for any of this.

No Rest for the Wicked (1985) is the second album release of British rock band New Model Army, Vengeance (1984) being their first. It was the band's first release on major record label EMI, and their last featuring founding member Stuart Morrow. The album reached in the UK albums chart. A key element on its cover is a quotation from the Magna Carta, "To no man will we sell, or deny, or delay right or justice". Singles released from the album are "No Rest" and Better Than Them (The Acoustic EP).

New album Between Dog And Wolf, while just about recognisable as New Model Army, throws out much that we know about them: the earnest punk, much of the overt politics, the world-muso folkiness and most of the guitars. What's left is a lean, textured record of murder ballads and gothic Americana led by tom-heavy rhythms. We never have an agenda outside of making music that pleases ourselves. A few people have asked, "Aren't you worried about what the fans will make of it because it's so different?" Well no, not really. I never worry about that. Presumably there's a parallel universe New Model Army that did have that massive hit and became a bigger thin. S: There was a period in the early 90s when we seemed to be on the brink of being a 'big' band, but we shot ourselves in the foot so many times it never happened. Perhaps that's what we wanted to do.
