Me and Mr. Jones Lyrics. Jones Jones Jones Jones Jones Jones. Remember where we used to meet? That small cafe And you used to look at me in a certain way You used to sit there way back up in the corner Waiting for me to make my grand entrance And I'd walk in slowly.
Barbara Mason has become instantly identifiable as a ‘woman with attitude’, a phrase that has come to represent the fairer sex in these modern times. She is not readily associated with an image of brittleness or uncertainty in her track record of provocative records with in-your-face lyrics, such as ‘Shackin’ up’, ‘From his woman to you’, or the outrageous ‘Another man’. Nor in her sultry, evocative vocal delivery. However, there was a time when she was vulnerable and starry-eyed, and that sweetness is beautifully captured on her debut album.

Mason initially focused on songwriting when she entered the music industry in her teens. As a performer, though, she had a major hit single with her third release in 1965, "Yes, I'm Ready" ( pop, R&B), a fetching soul-pop confection that spotlighted her girlish vocals. One of the first examples of the rhythmic but lush sound that came to be called Philly soul, she had modest success throughout the rest of the decade on the small Arctic label, run by her manager, top Philadelphia disc-jockey, Jimmy Bishop. Give Me Your Love is a 1973 album by Barbara Mason. Buddha Records' decision to record an album was due to the success of Mason's version of the Curtis Mayfield title song. The album included mature subject matter such as "Bed and Board", and "You Can Be With the One You Don't Love", expressing the desire for a lover outside of marriage.
