Paul Is Live is a live album by Paul McCartney, released in 1993 during his New World Tour in support of the album Off the Ground. The album cover is based on that of Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road and contains multiple references to the "Paul is dead" conspiracy theory. The album's title is a response to the "Paul is dead" rumours after the 1969 release of the Beatles' last studio album, Abbey Road.

Paul Is Live, recorded during the tour in support of Off The Ground, was Paul's fifth live album and is famous for its title's double meaning and the rumour-scotching cover art. Ever since the 1969 release of Abbey Road, there had been hoax-fuelled stories of Paul’s untimely death. The new title was a way of saying that this was most definitely not the case. The artwork is a play on the famous Abbey Road cover, with Paul crossing that same street but wearing shoes and using his left hand this time.
Paul's twenty-fifth "solo" album release and FIFTH live album. cover is simply a folded up small poster 18 1/2" x 9 1/2 " that contains a few pictures, the tracklisting and the words, "Paul is live. In 1993 Paul embarked on an international tour which he entitled "The New World Tour", although he visited some distinctly old world places ! 18th - 23rd February, the first leg was in Europe covering just Italy and Germany. 5th - 27th March, the second stage WAS the New World.
Paul McCartney's fourth live album in four years (including Tripping the Live Fantastic: The Highlights) is arguably his weakest yet, full of competent but utterly unnecessary versions of Beatles classics and recent McCartney numbers. Really, does anyone need to hear a live version of "Biker Like an Icon"? And after putting out two separate live albums from his previous tour, it smacks of overkill to release this record, which has the exact same band and tone as Tripping the Live Fantastic.
