The Del Fuegos were a 1980s garage-style rock band. Formed in 1980, the Boston-based band gained success in 1986 on success of their songs "Don't Run Wild" and "I Still Want You" and appearing in a widely seen television commercial for a beer company. I Should Be The One (7").

The Del Fuegos were a garage-style pop band in the 1980s with lead singer Dan Zanes, guitarist Warren Zanes (his brother), bassist Tom Lloyd, drummer Brent Giessmann and keyboardist Br. Cleve. The Boston-based band was signed to a series of respected indie labels, was touted by fans such as Tom Petty, starred in a beer commercial, and gained airplay with "Don't Run Wild" and "I Still Want You" ( Hot 100, 1986).
The Del Fuegos were proud sons of Boston, Massachusetts, but you might not have guessed that by listening to their debut album, The Longest Day, which mixed the swaggering thunder of heartland garage rock with the rootsy twang of Dixie-fried rockabilly and roots-conscious rock 'n' roll

I saw the Del Fuegos in Manchester, NH during their tour with the Georgia Satellites and Tom Petty, for their second or third album. They were hands down one of the best indy rock bands of the 1980's. They toured with Petty when he was hitting the big time, kind of like when the Meat Puppets toured with Nirvana. The Del Fuegos were (please get together again guys)one of the most underrated bands ever and should have made it absolutely huge. They had everything you'd ever want from a rock and roll band but what set them miles apart from other bands of the time was their excellent songwriting (for a starter just listen to Backseat Nothing, I Still Want You and I Can't Take This Place). The 2nd album Boston, Mass. is my favourite of the 3 and it's criminal that they left off two of the best songs (Hold Us Down & especially the blistering Shame).
