Although pianist Clarence Williams gets top billing on this LP, in reality all of the music is dominated by the vocals of Anna Bell, Katharine Henderson, or Laura Bryant. Williams 's bands (which include cornetists Ed Allen and/or King Oliver, clarinetist Arville Harris or Ben Whittet, Cyrus St. Clair on tuba, trombonist Ed Cuffee, and sometimes the tenor of Benny Waters ) is mostly restricted to background work with an occasional short solo. This collectors' album is of lesser interest.

Katherine Henderson (born June 23, 1909; date of death unknown) was an African-American classic female blues singer. Most of her recording sessions took place in Long Island City, New York, in October and November 1928. Henderson was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the niece of Eva Taylor and Clarence Williams. As a child, she performed in minstrel shows and on the vaudeville circuit. In the late 1920s, she recorded around ten songs, which were issued by Brunswick Records and QRS Records.

Eva Taylor vocal, accompanied by Clarence Williams Blue Seven. This Clarence Williams group includes members of Fletcher Henderson’s Orchestra-Tommy Ladnier, cornet; Jimmy Harrison, trombone; Coleman Hawkins, tenor sax. Tommy Ladnier plays a very lyrical cornet solo on this recording unlike his usual Louis Armstrong inspired hotter style.
