Getting To This ‎(Cass, Album). Island Records Ltd. 7148 005. Germany. Blodwyn Pig. Getting To This ‎(LP, Album, Gat). A&M Records, Chrysalis.

Getting to This was the second album by British blues-rock band Blodwyn Pig, released in 1970. The album was the band's last until a brief reunion in the 1990s. Peter Banks joined from Yes after the recording of Getting to This, but the band split up at the end of 1970. The album reached 8 on the UK album chart. Drive Me" – 3:19 (Abrahams). Variations on Nainos" – 3:47 (Abrahams). See My Way" – 5:04 (Abrahams). Long Bomb Blues" – 1:07 (Abrahams). The Squirreling Must Go On" – 4:22 (Abrahams/Pyle).

There's no getting around the feeling that Getting to This is an absolute mess of an album. In spite of its impressive successes, the album sees fit to congeal into something satisfying. I can appreciate Blodwyn Pig wanted to explore new avenues in their sound, but the initiative's resulted in fewer hits than misses. If nothing else, check out "San Francisco Sketches".

Less than a year after the release of their début, Blodwyn Pig returned with what would prove to be their final album (although further material would eventually appear in the Blodwyn Pig name as a result of a reunion many years later). Once again, the band revolves around the blues leanings of Mick Abrahams and the jazz influences of Alan Lancaster. Abrahams dominates the early song-writing, composing all the tracks (one with Andy Pyle) on the first side of the LP release

Laminated front cover, non-gatefold.

This is an extremely interesting pressing. The tracks on the labels are incorrect and the tracks represented on the labels on this pressing actually match the UK release Blodwyn Pig - Getting To This. The correct track list match what is on the back cover of this release and they are the same as the US release Blodwyn Pig - Getting To This. Like the US release, tracks are different to the UK release with side 1, "See My Way" being replaced by "Meanie Mornay" and on Side 2, "To Rass Man" is completely missing.

Another interesting aspect of this release is that in the Matrix runouts there are the US company, Monarch Record Mfg. Co. logos present but these are also crossed-out. Also in the runouts "Δ" is present, which indicates that the Australian mastering / vinyl cutting engineer, Tony Taurins, lacquer cut this pressing see Δ.

The back cover erroneously states "Produced and arranged by Andy Johns", when it should be "Produced and engineered by Andy Johns" as it states on the labels.
