Into The Light is a well crafted collection of songs, and the recording sounds great. The dark thread of death runs throughout the record, even while musically many of the songs are quite poppy. Corpses in the Rain", "Sound of an Angel's Wings" and "Broken" are catchy enough to have commercial appeal, if it wasn't for the macabre subject matter. The only ska song on the album, "Never Let It Go", doesn't show up until the 12th track. That's OK with me, as I have never really been a fan of that aspect of the band's sound. The record ends with the title track, an acoustic song that packs a powerful emotional wallop. Into The Light is an excellent addition to The Independents' body of work. After more than 20 years as a band, they have made one of their strongest albums to date. Despite its dark subject matter, it is an enjoyable listen from start to finish.

Into The Light is their new studio album. Recommended if you like the Damned, Misfits and Ramones. With "Into the Light," garage rockers The Independents cover a large swathe of musical territory, and pretty much manage to raze all of it. This is a gritty, hard-rocking album, but it's also one that keeps the listener guessin. hich is a pretty neat trick when most of the sounds are stripped down to the bone.
The Independents released their first album 'In For The Kill' in 1995 on the indie label Rock Duster Records. It was followed by the 'Stalker' EP CD and 10" picture disc on Elevator Music in 1997. The self-titled, 'The Independents' EP, was released on Hellcat/Epitaph label in 1998. The Independents best selling record to date 'Eternal Bond' was released in 2006 followed by 'The Early Years 1993-97 Demos' in 2007. The Independents have many songs on movie soundtracks such as 'Hardcore Logo', 'Babydoll', '100 Tears', 'Anal Paprika', and countless others including some Trauma movies.
The Independents released the album Do It Again in 2008. Leading up to the album's release, they toured with The Queers, as well as headlining their own tours. The Independents have also toured with the Voodoo Glow Skulls on many occasions. In 2014 The Independents released their CD "Into The Light", their first full length CD since 2008's "Do it Again".
